What is TEREA?
TEREA is Philip Morris International's range of heated tobacco sticks for IQOS ILUMA devices. Each stick contains processed tobacco and a metal heating element, which the ILUMA device heats by induction without a blade. IQOS UK states that TEREA can only be used with devices in the IQOS ILUMA series.
TEREA replaced HEETS for the newer ILUMA devices. The two are not interchangeable, because older blade devices heat HEETS with a blade while ILUMA heats the element inside TEREA.
Flavour names on TEREA packs differ from country to country. A name you know from Japan, Malaysia or Europe may not exist elsewhere, or may describe a different blend, which is one reason visitors search for TEREA by country before they travel.

Is TEREA legal in Thailand?
No. The Tobacco Control Laws database lists the sale of heated tobacco products in Thailand as banned, and TEREA sticks are heated tobacco products. UK travel advice adds that possessing or using heat-not-burn products in Thailand is illegal, with no exceptions for tourists or for personal use.
The device-side question is covered in Is IQOS legal in Thailand?. The sticks do not have a separate, more permissive status.

Is TEREA available in Thailand through any lawful channel?
No lawful channel exists. Thai law prohibits importing and selling heated tobacco products, and Philip Morris International's Thailand page lists no IQOS or TEREA products. Sticks offered in Thailand are therefore outside the law, however they are advertised or delivered.
Search results for TEREA in Thailand often show sellers and marketplace listings. Their presence in search results does not make them lawful, and this site does not link to them.
The absence of an official channel also means there is no local manufacturer support, no official information in Thai on the packs, and no way for a visitor to verify where a given pack originally came from.

Can I bring my own TEREA sticks into Thailand?
Official advice says no. The import notification applied to heated tobacco products prohibits bringing them into the country, and UK travel advice states there are no exceptions for tourists or personal use. Offences can lead to confiscation, fines typically between 5,000 and 30,000 baht, and detention.
Aviation rules on batteries apply to the device, not to the sticks, but that does not change the Thai customs position. Our guide to IQOS in Thailand covers the flight and airport side.

Is TEREA treated differently from vapes under Thai law?
Not for the ban. Tobacco Control Laws notes that Thai regulators consider heated tobacco products to fall within the ban on e-cigarettes and e-cigarette liquids, even though TEREA contains real tobacco rather than liquid. The product difference is technical; the legal outcome in Thailand is the same.
Readers of Thai can compare this with our Thai explainer on heat-not-burn products, which describes the mechanical differences between the two product types.

Which devices use TEREA sticks?
TEREA works only with the IQOS ILUMA family and the newer ILUMA i family, including ILUMA, ILUMA PRIME, ILUMA ONE, ILUMA i, ILUMA i PRIME and ILUMA i ONE. IQOS support pages warn against using TEREA in bladed devices such as IQOS 3 DUO because it might damage the device.
This compatibility point is useful for travellers outside Thailand. It has no bearing on the Thai legal position, which applies whichever device a stick is meant for.

Why do search results show TEREA prices for Thailand?
Search results reflect what websites publish, not what is lawful. Listings quoting a Thai price for TEREA come from sellers operating outside the law, since sale is banned. Official PMI and IQOS sites publish no Thai price and no Thai store for TEREA.
We do not publish or compare any prices. Our Thai-language page on market value outside Thailand explains why no lawful Thai reference exists.
Treat any listing that targets Thailand with caution: it cannot point to a lawful source, and official travel advice is clear that possession itself is an offence.

Where can I check the rules on TEREA in Thailand myself?
Check three official sources before you travel: the UK government's Thailand travel advice, Australia's Smartraveller page on Thailand, and the Thailand entry in the Tobacco Control Laws database, which links to unofficial English translations of the legal texts. All are listed at the end of this page with direct links.
The English legal section of this site lists every English page, and each records the date it was last checked.
