What are SENTIA sticks?
SENTIA sticks are heated tobacco sticks with a metal core embedded inside, just like TEREA, and they are designed for the induction system of the IQOS ILUMA family. Philip Morris Japan makes and markets them as a brand in their own right, separate from TEREA, even though the heating mechanism is identical.
The name first appeared in an official Philip Morris Japan press announcement describing a new brand of sticks for ILUMA devices.
Readers who meet SENTIA while researching TEREA often wonder whether it is simply another name for the same thing. It is not. The core design is explained on what is TEREA.

When and where did SENTIA first appear?
According to the official Philip Morris Japan announcement, SENTIA went on the market in Japan on 4 April 2022. The launch covered six initial flavours and was limited to 29 prefectures of Japan. That regional start was the brand's first appearance anywhere, and later flavour news also came from the Japanese newsroom.
Starting in a limited area and widening later is a familiar pattern for new products in Japan, a market where the company often introduces products first.
The launch details come directly from the company's own press release, linked in the sources below. Wider context on that market is on TEREA in Japan.

Does SENTIA heat up the same way as TEREA?
Yes. SENTIA relies on a metal core inside the stick that works with the ILUMA induction system in exactly the same way as TEREA does. Anyone who already has an ILUMA device can therefore use SENTIA sticks without extra equipment or a separate device from the one used for TEREA.
This shared compatibility is a clear contrast with HEETS and TEREA, which need different device families.
SENTIA and TEREA both fit the same group of devices. How the older blade sticks differ is set out on HEETS compared with TEREA, and the devices themselves on the device overview.

Are SENTIA and TEREA one product line or two?
They are two distinct lines. Both come from Philip Morris International and both use the same heating system, but SENTIA has its own brand name, its own packaging and its own flavour range, clearly separate from TEREA. It is not a sub-range of TEREA or an alternative name for it.
Having two parallel brands that fit the same device gives users in markets with both lines more flavour options without changing devices.
Every stick name the manufacturer publishes, including DELIA and LEVIA, is compared on IQOS stick types.
From the device's point of view, the two lines are interchangeable, even though they are marketed separately.

How has the SENTIA flavour range grown since launch?
After the first launch in 2022, Philip Morris Japan announced further SENTIA flavours at intervals through its official newsroom, with new variants announced in 2023 and 2024 and more in 2025 and 2026. That steady stream of announcements shows the line is still active in the Japanese market.
For the current flavour list, check the Philip Morris Japan newsroom directly. The range changes often, and this page does not attempt a full flavour-by-flavour listing.
For how TEREA names its own variants, see the TEREA flavour guide.
Pack names and flavour groupings for SENTIA are set by the Japanese newsroom announcements.

Is SENTIA found outside Japan?
SENTIA began in the Japanese market in 2022. Whether it has since reached other markets should be checked in the official Philip Morris International newsroom for each country, because that information changes over time. We have only verified the Japanese launch, so we do not list any other countries here.
Stick availability differs widely by country, just as TEREA flavour names do.
For comparison, our market pages cover Korea and Europe. In Thailand, official advice says heated tobacco products are banned whatever the brand; see the Thai rules for sticks.
We will add countries only after checking an official announcement.

Does a TEREA user need to know about SENTIA?
Not for using a device, since TEREA and SENTIA both work in the same ILUMA devices. Knowing about SENTIA simply gives a wider picture of how this product category is organised. Like TEREA, SENTIA holds real tobacco, which naturally contains nicotine, and it is meant only for adults who already use nicotine.
If you see an unfamiliar stick name, the first question is always which device family it was designed for.
The model names in that family, such as ILUMA i, are explained on their own pages.
Blade devices cannot take SENTIA, for the same reason they cannot take TEREA.

Why is there only one SENTIA page on this site?
Reader interest in SENTIA is very low compared with searches about TEREA, so there is not yet a good reason to split it into several articles as we have done for TEREA. This page therefore gathers all the basic SENTIA information in one place and answers the questions readers ask most often.
If interest grows clearly in future, the coverage may be expanded.
For now, the broader stick context lives on the TEREA hub, and the rest of our English content is listed on the English home page.
