How does IQOS Indonesia describe TEREA Black Green?

The official Indonesian page describes Black Green as real tobacco blended with strong menthol cooling and enriched with a green fruit aroma. The cooling is stated to be more intense than in plain Green, which places Black Green among the high-intensity menthol sticks of the range. The description names the fruit only as green fruit, without a specific variety.

We keep to the manufacturer's words and do not guess at which fruit is meant.

The wider set of cooling sticks, from light to intense, is gathered on our menthol names page, which also covers Japan's own labels.

Where an official description is brief, we leave it brief here too rather than filling the gap with our own tasting notes.

What does the word Black signal in this name?

Across TEREA, Black placed before a colour usually means a more intense menthol than the same colour on its own. The rule holds in the green family and in the purple family alike. Black Green is therefore the stronger counterpart of Green, and Black Purple the stronger counterpart of Purple Wave, according to the way the manufacturer words its descriptions.

Knowing this convention helps when a pack from an unfamiliar market turns up.

The purple side of the pattern is explained on our page about purple TEREA names, where Black Purple is compared with Purple Wave.

The convention is a naming habit of the manufacturer, so it is a helpful clue, although the full description always has the final word.

How is Black Green different from plain TEREA Green?

Black Green is described with stronger menthol cooling and a green fruit accent. Plain Green is described with a medium level of cooling built around a fresh green mint-leaf note. Both packs use green tones, but one leans towards fruit and intensity and the other towards a herbal, moderate cooling.

The two are separate products, not stronger and weaker batches of one recipe.

Green is also the name most often compared with Japan's Mint, as discussed on our page about TEREA Mint, which looks at cooling names across markets.

Their green packs sit close together in colour, which is why the two names are so frequently confused by first-time readers.

How does induction heat a TEREA stick from the inside?

ILUMA devices use induction. A small metal element is sealed inside every TEREA stick, and when the device is switched on, an electromagnetic field warms that element so the tobacco is heated from within. IQOS Switzerland describes this system on its official TEREA page. The device itself has no pointed metal part that enters the stick.

Because the heating part lives in the stick, Black Green and every other TEREA carry the same element regardless of flavour.

Step-by-step handling of an ILUMA device is covered in our how-to-use guide.

The sealed element is also why TEREA sticks are shaped and built differently inside, even though they look like ordinary sticks outside.

What did the blade in earlier IQOS models do differently?

Earlier IQOS devices had a pin-shaped heating blade fixed permanently inside the device. The stick was pushed down over the blade, which entered its centre and heated outward from that point of contact. Induction works in the opposite way: nothing enters the stick, and the heat comes from the element built into the stick itself.

This mechanical difference is the core reason the two stick families were designed separately.

A full side-by-side of the two systems appears on our HEETS versus TEREA comparison, including why the older sticks have no metal element.

Heating from the centre outward also explains why blade devices needed their own stick design without any internal metal part.

Why can blade sticks and TEREA not replace each other?

Sticks made for blade devices contain no metal element, so they do not respond to an induction field. TEREA sticks such as Black Green, in turn, are not built to take a blade through their centre. Trying to use TEREA in a device that does not support it may leave the device unable to heat or showing an unusual signal.

The official Indonesian page also warns against using TEREA in earlier IQOS devices because it can damage them.

The model-by-model picture is on our IQOS devices overview, which separates ILUMA from the older families.

Pairing each stick family with its own device family is the simplest way to avoid both damage and failed heating.

Which device family is Black Green designed for?

Only the ILUMA family, because Black Green, like every TEREA flavour, relies on induction. Owners of older bladed IQOS devices would need sticks made for the blade system instead. Legal status matters too: official advice says heated tobacco sticks and devices are not allowed in Thailand, so none of these pairings applies there.

Details on the newest induction models are on our page about ILUMA i.

The Thai position is summarised on TEREA under Thai rules, which explains why flavour makes no difference.

The stick's flavour has no influence on which device can heat it; the induction element alone decides compatibility.

Does Black Green contain a capsule, and how is its pack recognised?

Black Green has no capsule; it keeps one flavour throughout, which places it in plain menthol rather than the capsule group. On the pack, look for the word Black printed before Green. The Black Green pack tends to use a darker green than plain Green, but reading the full name is more dependable than trusting the shade under changing light.

Several TEREA names use close greens, so the printed name is the dependable check.

The capsule sticks that Black Green is not part of are described on our Pearl capsule page.

A missing capsule symbol on the filter area is another quick sign that the pack in hand is Black Green, not a Pearl stick.

Frequently asked questions

Can TEREA Black Green go into a bladed IQOS device?
No. It has no structure for a blade and is designed only for ILUMA induction devices.
How much stronger is Black Green than plain Green?
Black Green is described with strong menthol, Green with medium cooling; no numeric scale is published for a direct comparison.
Why do ILUMA devices have no heating blade?
The heating part was moved into the stick itself, and the device only creates the field that warms it.
Does Black Green have a capsule to squeeze?
No. It gives one steady flavour and belongs to plain menthol, not to the Pearl capsule group.
Which fruit is the green fruit in Black Green?
IQOS Indonesia only says green fruit, so we do not name a specific fruit.
Where is the metal element in a TEREA stick?
It is sealed inside the tobacco section of every TEREA stick, whatever the flavour.
