Which TEREA flavour is best?
There is no official ranking, and taste is personal. What we can do is explain the categories the manufacturer uses: plain tobacco-led sticks, menthol sticks, stronger Black menthol sticks and Pearl sticks with a capsule. Knowing the category tells you more than any online best list.
People search for the best TEREA flavour more than any other TEREA question in English. We answer it by explaining names, because rankings on forums are opinions.
The four groups are how the manufacturer's pages are organised, not a scale of quality.
Readers often ask which flavour is closest to a cigarette they know. The manufacturer does not make that comparison, so neither do we.

How does Japan name its TEREA menthol sticks?
IQOS Japan lists thirteen menthol sticks without a capsule: Menthol, Mint, Black Menthol, Purple Menthol, Yellow Menthol, Tropical Menthol, Bright Menthol, Fusion Menthol, Black Purple Menthol, Black Yellow Menthol, Black Fuchsia Menthol, Black Ruby Menthol and Black Sunshine Menthol. Several of them add a fruit note.
In Japan the name usually says what to expect: the word Menthol or Mint marks the cooling group, and a colour or fruit word adds the second note.
Japan's list is the longest we have checked, which is why travellers there see more names than anywhere else.

What does Black mean in a Japanese TEREA name?
IQOS Japan describes the Black sticks as a strong cooling menthol. For example, Black Menthol pairs strong cooling with a light green fruit note, Black Purple Menthol adds blueberry, and Black Ruby Menthol adds raspberry and floral notes. Black signals intensity, not colour.
The manufacturer does not publish a numeric scale for cooling, so we do not score it.
Black Yellow Menthol, Black Fuchsia Menthol and Black Sunshine Menthol follow the same pattern, with the colour word marking the added note.

What are the fruit notes in the other Japanese menthol names?
According to IQOS Japan, Purple Menthol adds blueberry, Yellow Menthol citrus with herbs, Tropical Menthol mango, Bright Menthol pear and Fusion Menthol lavender with pear. Menthol itself is described as strong menthol with peppermint, and Mint as a balanced mint coolness.
These are the manufacturer's descriptions as published on 28 September 2026.
Descriptions such as mango or lavender come from the manufacturer's own wording; we do not add tasting notes of our own.

How does the UK name its TEREA menthol sticks?
IQOS UK uses colour names. Blue is described as deep menthol with peppermint, Green as balanced menthol with green mint, Turquoise as fresh citrus coolness, and Mauve Wave as menthol with dark forest fruits. Colour names do not tell you the group on their own, so read the description.
The UK Blue and Japan's Menthol have similar descriptions but different pack names, a common source of confusion for travellers.
The UK line-up also includes non-menthol sticks, which are described separately on IQOS UK and not listed here.

Which Pearl sticks are listed in Japan and the UK?
Japan lists seven: Oasis Pearl (passion fruit), Sun Pearl (watermelon), Shine Pearl (muscat grape), Blossom Pearl, Velvet Pearl, Stellar Pearl and Riviera Pearl. The UK lists six: Riviera, Twilight, Starling, Provence, Amelia and Abora Pearl. Only Riviera Pearl appears on both lists.
Pearl sticks carry a capsule that is squeezed to release an extra flavour. IQOS UK notes they are not available in Northern Ireland.
Blossom Pearl is described with strawberry and herbs, Velvet Pearl with blueberry and Stellar Pearl with lemon.
The capsule adds flavour only; it does not change how the stick is heated or which devices it works in, so Pearl sticks follow the same rules as any other TEREA.

Do all TEREA flavours work in every ILUMA device?
Yes. Flavour comes from the stick, not the device, so every TEREA variant works in every ILUMA and ILUMA i model. No device is designed for a particular flavour. What does not work is using TEREA in older blade devices, which the manufacturer warns against.
See HEETS vs TEREA and the devices section.
The ILUMA i FlexPuff and Pause features work the same way whatever the flavour.

Can I bring TEREA flavours from Japan or the UK into Thailand?
No, according to official advice. Thailand's import ban covers heated tobacco products whatever the flavour, and UK travel advice says possessing heat-not-burn devices is illegal with no exception for tourists. A flavour that is legal in Japan does not change the Thai position.
See TEREA in Thailand and bringing IQOS into Thailand.
Official advice does not distinguish between flavours, capsules or pack types.
Being legal in the country where a pack was made does not affect how Thai rules treat it on arrival.
