How does Switzerland present its TEREA list?

IQOS Switzerland shows its whole TEREA range on one page without firm sub-groups. Tobacco-only, menthol and Pearl capsule sticks appear together, more than seventeen names in total. Readers have to read each description to work out which group a stick belongs to. The page also separates the TEREA collection from other product lines shown nearby.

Checking the collection name next to each item is therefore worthwhile on the Swiss page.

Background on the stick format itself is on our what is TEREA page for readers starting from scratch.

A single list suits readers who want to see everything at once, but it asks more effort from anyone sorting by flavour family.

What four groups does the UK use for TEREA?

The UK splits its range into Classic, with Sienna and Russet, Menthol, with Green and Blue, Nutty, with Amber and Teak, and Zesty, with Turquoise and Yellow. Each group has a short overview before its names, which makes it easier to browse by flavour family than reading the list one stick at a time.

Japan also has four categories, but it sorts them by menthol level rather than by secondary note.

That contrast is explained on our TEREA Japan page, where Regular and Capsule Menthol are separate groups.

The groups also make it easier to see which sticks share a secondary note, such as the nutty character of Amber and Teak.

How do the UK's four groups compare with Japan's four categories?

Japan's four categories, Regular, Menthol, Flavour Menthol and Capsule Menthol, are organised around menthol and mechanism. The UK's four combine one menthol group with three groups defined by secondary notes: Classic, Nutty and Zesty. The count is the same, yet the logic is quite different, so the groups do not map neatly onto each other.

A Nutty stick in the UK has no direct equivalent category in the Japanese system.

Japan's tobacco-only names are laid out on our TEREA Regular page for comparison.

Readers moving between Japanese and British pages should expect to rebuild the groups themselves rather than find direct matches.

What do the UK's intensity, body and aroma scores show?

IQOS UK rates every name out of five for intensity, body and aroma. Russet, for example, scores 5 for intensity, 3 for body and 5 for aroma, while Turquoise scores 2, 2 and 1. Switzerland shows no such scale and relies on written descriptions alone. The scores are the brand's own assessment and may change if blends are revised.

Numbers make comparing names easier, but they only exist on the UK page.

How flavour wording works across countries is covered in our flavour name guide, and the full UK scores appear in the table below.

We reproduce the numbers exactly as published and do not extend them to names that the UK page does not score.

Which Pearl sticks does the Swiss page list?

Switzerland lists several Pearl sticks: Twilight Pearl, dark malty tobacco with blueberry menthol once the capsule is squeezed, Oasis Pearl, creamy tobacco with passion fruit menthol, Amelia Pearl, herbal tobacco with an unusual aroma, Arbora Pearl, malty tobacco with apple menthol, and Ruby Wave, dark berry with menthol.

Pearl descriptions tend to name both the tobacco base and the added aroma in a single line.

The squeeze mechanism is explained on our Pearl capsule page, and purple-toned Pearl names on our purple names page.

Squeezing is optional in every case; without it, each Swiss Pearl stick gives only its tobacco base.

Do Switzerland and the UK list the same names?

Mostly. Blue, Green, Sienna, Russet, Amber, Teak, Turquoise and Yellow appear in both. Some names, however, were found only on the Swiss page, including Laguna, Swift, Silver and Willow, as well as the whole Pearl series. Both countries note that line-ups may change without notice, so this is a dated snapshot.

Several of the shared names also turn up in Asia under the same spelling.

South Korea's use of names like Amber, Russet and Teak is covered on our TEREA Korea page.

We record the names as they appeared on the date checked and will revise the list if either official page changes.

How long does one TEREA stick last, according to IQOS Switzerland?

IQOS Switzerland states that one TEREA stick provides up to 14 puffs or up to 6 minutes of use, whichever comes first. The limit applies to every name in the range, regardless of group or flavour, because it comes from how the induction system works rather than from any particular blend. European ILUMA devices use the same induction technology as other markets.

If six minutes pass before the fourteenth puff, heating stops on the time limit instead.

Practical steps for a session are covered in our guide to using ILUMA.

The same figures apply whichever group a stick belongs to, from Classic tobacco to the capsule sticks.

Do European rules have any bearing on Thailand?

None. TEREA being on official lists in Switzerland or the UK does not affect Thai law. Official advice says heated tobacco sticks and devices are not allowed in Thailand, and European residents visiting the country are no exception. This comparison is published for information only, with no guidance on obtaining any of the sticks.

European visitors can find practical guidance in our travel notes for Thailand.

The legal summary itself is on the TEREA in Thailand page.

Holding a European residence permit or a UK address makes no difference to how these rules apply on arrival in Thailand.

Frequently asked questions

Do Switzerland and the UK list exactly the same TEREA?
No. Most core names match, but Laguna, Swift, Willow and the Pearl series were found only on the Swiss page.
Can the UK scores be compared with Swiss descriptions?
Only loosely. Switzerland publishes no numeric scale, so cross-country comparison rests on written descriptions.
How many puffs does one TEREA stick give in Europe?
Up to 14 puffs or 6 minutes, whichever comes first, according to IQOS Switzerland.
What happens when six minutes pass before 14 puffs?
The device stops heating on the time limit; the two limits run in parallel and the first one reached applies.
Which UK group contains Amber and Teak?
The Nutty group, which is one of four UK groups alongside Classic, Menthol and Zesty.
Which name has the lowest aroma score in the UK list?
Turquoise, with an aroma score of 1 out of 5 on the IQOS UK page.
