What sort of product is Marlboro Arctic X?

It is the name people use for a cooling, capsule-style conventional cigarette in some markets. The giveaway is that it comes in a cigarette pack and is designed to be lit; it needs no IQOS holder or pocket charger. The letter X does not refer to a device generation or a heating system. Packaging for the same name can differ by country, period and labelling law, so a single old photo should not be used to confirm colours, capsule counts or availability.

IQOS Hub does not publish retail listings and does not confirm what is on any shelf. What we can do is place the product in its category so that it is not confused with heated tobacco.

For the heated side, read what a TEREA stick is and HEETS versus TEREA.

Are Arctic X and Arctic Black two names for one thing?

Not necessarily. The two terms often sit close together in search results, but they should not be assumed to be the same variant. Black tends to be part of a line name or a packaging tone, while X may be a sub-name used in one market. The full name printed on the front, the side and the local-language label is what settles it. Both remain conventional cigarettes whenever the label says cigarette and carries neither HEETS nor TEREA.

Telling sub-names apart helps when reading information, but it does not change the basic fact: these cigarettes are not consumables for any IQOS device.

If the question is really about capsule sticks for ILUMA, the TEREA Pearl page lists the names the manufacturer publishes, and TEREA Japan shows one full market line-up.

How does the Arctic X capsule differ from a TEREA Pearl capsule?

A capsule in a cigarette filter is crushed while the cigarette burns. TEREA Pearl is the name of a group of heated tobacco sticks designed for ILUMA. A user squeezes a capsule in both cases to change the aroma, and that is where the similarity ends: the heat source, the construction of the stick and the device involved are entirely different. The words capsule or pearl describe an added aroma feature, never compatibility with a device.

To know whether a stick works with ILUMA, look for the word TEREA and the manual for that country. Our Pearl page keeps manufacturer-announced names apart from cigarette names.

Menthol-style sticks are grouped on TEREA menthol; SENTIA, another ILUMA stick line, is on its own page.

Will Marlboro Arctic X work in an IQOS holder?

No. IQOS devices need sticks built specifically for their system. An Arctic X cigarette lacks the components and the airflow path the device expects. Blade models accept HEETS or the HeatSticks named for them, and ILUMA models accept TEREA and whatever else the manufacturer specifies for a given market. Pushing a cigarette into a holder can mean a poor fit, loose tobacco inside the device, or damage to internal parts. If unsure, stop and read the model name on the device.

Our stick overview includes a short pairing table for double-checking which stick belongs to which model, and it is worth a glance whenever a pack looks unfamiliar.

Model pages: IQOS 3 DUO for the blade family and the latest ILUMA models; the full pairing list is on stick types.

Why do searches for Arctic X so often mention cooling or capsules?

Because many people search by the sensation they remember, cool, mint, capsule, rather than by product category. That pulls cigarettes, vapes and TEREA into the same results page. A taste description, however, cannot reveal the mechanism or the device involved. When reading reviews, separate brand words, cooling words and system words. Arctic and Menthol only describe a flavour family; cigarette, HEETS and TEREA are the words that actually classify the product.

Treating the system word as the important one prevents most of the confusion around cooling products of every kind, whatever the brand on the front.

For a broader picture of how the categories differ, see vapes compared with heated tobacco and Marlboro, IQOS and TEREA.

Can a shelf listing or a convenience-chain name confirm which Arctic X version exists?

No. Listings and chain names are retail details that shift with time, area, tax level and stock. Many searches attach the latest year or the name of a convenience chain, but none of that proves which Arctic X version is currently available or whether an item is genuine. IQOS Hub does not use retail figures as a way of classifying products. To understand the difference from IQOS, skip the numbers and read the product type printed on the label.

Thai law on importing and distributing heated tobacco is a separate matter from cigarette retail figures. Government travel advice describes heat-not-burn devices as illegal to possess or use in Thailand; the details are on IQOS in Thailand.

Why figures vary is explained on Marlboro figures by country and year.

What do the spellings Arctic, Artic and the Thai forms refer to?

Arctic is the English spelling found on the product. Artic is a frequent typo, and Thai users write the word in several transliterations and spacings. All of these point to the same intent, which is why they belong on a single page rather than several near-duplicate ones. The correct name should be used as the heading and in any table, with the variant spellings acknowledged in a note or a FAQ entry rather than promoted as official.

Consolidating spellings helps readers land on one consistent answer and keeps typos out of reference tables, which matters for anyone comparing notes later.

The same discipline applies to device names, which is why our device comparison and IQOS vs glo vs Ploom pages use the manufacturers' spellings throughout.

Where should someone wanting a cool-tasting heated stick look instead?

Start with the device, not the flavour word. If the device is an ILUMA, open the TEREA menthol group or the page for the relevant country. If it is a blade model, look at the HEETS the manufacturer lists for it. Do not begin with Arctic X, because that is a cigarette search term and says nothing about compatibility. Then check the full stick name; colour is only a memory aid, and a review from one country does not mean the same taste elsewhere.

TEREA grouping differs between Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Europe, which is why the site keeps a page per market.

Adults who are new to the subject may prefer to begin with what IQOS is and how heat-not-burn works, then move to reading TEREA flavour names.

Frequently asked questions

Is Marlboro Arctic X an IQOS stick?
No. It is a name used for a conventional cigarette in certain markets and has nothing to do with IQOS consumables.
Can Arctic X go into an ILUMA?
No. ILUMA devices use sticks built for the system, such as TEREA, not cigarettes of any brand.
Are Arctic Black and Arctic X identical?
They may be different sub-names. Check the full printed label instead of assuming they match.
Is the Arctic X capsule the same as Pearl?
The squeeze idea is similar, but they belong to different product categories and cannot replace each other.
Does IQOS Hub list figures for Arctic X?
No. The site exists for information only and does not publish retail listings of any kind.
Is Arctic X a legal concern in Thailand like IQOS?
Cigarettes and heat-not-burn devices fall under different rules; official travel advice singles out heat-not-burn devices as illegal to possess or use.
